sydney, particularly circular quay

เดือนเมษายนปีก่อนเราได้มีโอกาสไปเยือนเมืองๆนี้ เรามาที่นี่ด้วยหัวเปล่าๆ เราไม่เคยไปออสเตรเลียมาก่อน รู้แต่ว่าร้อนแล้วก็มีสัตว์น่ารักๆที่เติบโตแค่ที่นี่ เมื่อก้าวเท้าลงจากเครื่องถึงค่อยรู้ตัวว่าออสเตรเลียตอนนั้นกำลังเข้าสู่ฤดูหนาว(ไม่เช็คอีกแล้ว) เราอยู่ซิดนีย์ประมาณอาทิตย์นึงก่อนจะบินต่อไปที่เมลเบิร์น

"เหมือนเกาหลี ผสมแดดญี่ปุ่น แต่มีฝรั่งเต็มไปหมด" เราอธิบายแฟนที่ตอนนั้นอยู่ไกลออกไป 4,680 ไมล์

ซิดนีย์คือเมืองที่บรรยากาศหรือ vibes ดีถูกจริตเรามาก เป็นเมืองใหญ่ที่มีทั้งทะเล สวนสัตว์ พิพิธภัณฑ์อยู่ใกล้ๆ ที่สำคัญคืออากาศไม่หนาวเกินไป เป็นเมืองๆนั้นที่เราอยากให้คนที่เรารักได้มาสัมผัสด้วยกัน เดินสำรวจตามย่านต่างๆด้วยกัน หรือไม่ก็ใช้เวลาบั้นปลายชีวิตนั่งกินไอติมริมชายหาดด้วยกันไปเลยย

Around April last year, I've finally visited this city/country. I arrived having no clue about how Australia is really like but a country where the weather is usually hot and there are these special adorable animals growing here. I then realized Australia was entering its winter(forgot to check again. My bad!) We stayed in Sydney for a week and then flew to Melbourne.

"It feels like South Korea, with some Japanese sun, but full of farangs" I tried to describe it to my boyfriend who at that time was 4,680 miles away

Sydney has just the vibes that make me fall in love. It's a big city in which beaches, zoo, and museums are within reach. Plus, the weather is so nice! I'd say it's that city where everything is so nice you wished your loved ones were there with you, exploring neighborhood, or even spend the sunset years chilling by the beach eating ice-cream together. :-)

the last glimpse of summer

Sweet Bondi of the surging waves,

     The snowy sands and twinkling shells!

Again I greet the sea that laves

     Thy sunny beach, thy coral dells!

How often, in my boyhood's day,

     When Fancy soar'd on new-fledg'd wing,

I've lov'd to list the sounding lay

umbrellas out! it's raining in japan

เราไม่ชอบฝน ไม่ชอบเลย ในขณะที่หลายๆคนชอบบรรยากาศฝนตกเพราะว่ามันทำให้ใจเย็น สงบ ผ่อนคลาย เรากลับรู้สึกว่ามันให้ความรู้สึกหม่นๆมากกว่า ทริปนี้เป็นทริปที่สองแล้วที่เราลืมเช็คสภาพอากาศก่อนจอง(ทริปก่อนหน้าคือฮ่องกง) แต่ก็ยังโชคดีอยู่ที่ฝนไม่ได้ตลอดทริป

จริงๆแล้วเรามีความรู้สึกอยากไปญี่ปุ่นมาตั้งแต่ต้นปีแล้วล่ะ แต่จริงๆก็ไม่ได้หวังอะไรมากเพราะว่าบ้านเราชอบไปเที่ยวที่ใหม่ๆมากกว่า แต่ครั้งนี้เราไปกับเพื่อน เราแปลกใจมากที่เพื่อนเราตอบตกลงทันทีที่ชวน รู้สึกตัวอีกทีก็จองทุกอย่างเรียบร้อยแล้ว

ญี่ปุ่นยังคงญี่ปุ่นในแบบที่เราจำได้เพิ่มเติมคือฝนตก คนเยอะๆๆ ดูวุ่นวาย แต่เงียบสงบ แตกต่างกับเพื่อนเราที่นี่เป็นครั้งแรก เธอคอยบอกเราตลอดทริปว่าย่านนี้ย่านนั้นเปรียบเหมือนย่านไหนของกรุงเทพ ซึ่งตลกดี

"ย่านนากาเมกุโระก็คืออารีย์เลย"

พูดตามตรงเลยว่าเราไม่ได้คิดว่าจะเจอฝนเลยตอนจอง ซึ่งเป็นไปไม่ได้เพราะเราอยู่ในซีกตะวันออกของโลก แต่คิดๆไปมันก็เป็นโอกาสที่ดีที่จะได้เห็นญี่ปุ่นในบรรยากาศฝนตก เสียงฝนพรึมพรำเข้ามาแทบความเงียบในเมือง ฝนนี่แหละเป็นสิ่งที่นำผู้คนเข้ามาใกล้กันขึ้น แชร์ร่มเอย แชร์ที่หลบฝนเอย ร้านค้า วัด หรือร้านอาหารก็จะคนแน่นๆหน่อย ว่าแล้วก็สวยไปอีกแบบ

I personally am not a fan of rain. Unlike others, rainy environment doesn't soothe me, relax me, or calm my soul but only glooms my spirit. This is the second trip which I planned without checking the weather, the previous one was Hong Kong. But we were lucky enough that it didn't rain the whole trips.

I felt like visiting Japan since the beginning of the year but didn't see much possibility as it was never in our choices. My family prefers going to new places than going to the ones we have already had been. It's why this time I went with a friend.

My friend surprised me by jumping into this immediately. It was so fast the next thing I remember was having everything booked. Japan was just like what I remember, plus rain. But it was different for my friend. It is funny how she kept comparing this and that neighborhoods to ours.

"Nakameguro is like Ari!"

Truthfully, I didn't expect to see any rain but sunshine which is impossible because we are in the Eastern part of the world. But it was also a great opportunity to capture Japan in the rain. Instead of silence, there was a sound of raindrops. Rain brought people closer together. People sharing umbrellas. Shops, temples, and restaurants were more crowed as they seek shelter from the rain. It was unexpectedly beautiful.
